PR Release Date, April 26, 2011 The Sacred Heart Cancer Center broke ground recently on a new building at Mack Bayou Center in Santa Rosa Beach that will house outpatient treatment services and offices for cancer specialists.The new Cancer Center will include 12 semi-private chemotherapy infusion chairs, two private chemotherapy infusion beds, six patient exam rooms, and an infusion pharmacy. The expanded center will provide more than double the space of existing offices on the campus of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. The Cancer Center will occupy the first floor of the new building which is expected to open in early 2012.“We are very excited to be breaking ground on a new cancer center for our community,” Roger Hall, president of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, said. “This new center will enable us to improve the comfort, privacy, convenience and safety of our patients.”“Our new Cancer Center will really bring a significant level of care to our community’s cancer patients,” says Terri Smith, vice president of Sacred Heart Cancer Services. “Our vision is to be the region’s premier cancer center. The facility will combine excellent treatment technology, great doctors and staff, a healing environment, and individualized patient care supported by the latest knowledge and research.”The 2nd floor of the new building will house Sacred Heart Medical Group Ob/Gyn physicians, Dr. Melinda Graham and Dr. Julianne Kenton. They will move from their current location in the Medical Office Building at SHHEC. Dr. Kimberly Hood, an Ob/Gyn currently practicing at Sacred Heart Medical Group in Niceville, is also expected to join their practice and will split her time between Niceville and Santa Rosa Beach. The Sacred Heart Medical Oncology Group will also be expanding this summer with the addition of Dr. Mose Hayes, III, a medical oncologist and hematologist who will begin seeing patients in August. Dr. Hayes received his medical degree from Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Tulane and completed fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. He will join Dr. Thomas R. Johnson, a board-certified medical oncologist/hematologist practicing in Miramar Beach with Sacred Heart since 2008. In addition to Miramar Beach, Sacred Heart Cancer Center has locations in Pensacola, Milton and Opp, Ala. Sacred Heart Cancer Center is affiliated with MD Anderson Physicians Network®.
